Committee of Human Rights Reporters (CHRR): The latest trial for Shiva Nazar Ahari, a founding member of CHRR, took place today in branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court with presiding judge Pir-Abassi.

According to Shiva’s lawyer Mohammad Sharif, the court announced her charges as Moharebeh (waging was against God) under Article 186, colluding to commit a crime under Article 610, propaganda against the system under Article 500, and disturbing public order under Article 618 (the Articles listed for the charges are in the Islamic Criminal Law). Shiva Nazar Ahari denied the charges in court.

The Moharebeh charge, which is based on the accusation of association with the Mujahedin-e Khalgh organization, was rejected by Shiva. She expressed disgust with the Mujahedin-e Khalgh organization and stated that she considers the charges unfounded. Shiva’s lawyers reported that they were able to present their defense to the court and they are not pessimistic about the outcome.
